Pitney Bowes Software (UK) has launched MapInfo Professional v12.0, designed to enable organisations to gain new insights into their markets, improve strategic decision-making and share information-rich maps and graphs. Reflecting Pitney Bowes’ commitment to the LI and GIS markets, a new Mapinfo.com website has also been launched to enable GIS professionals to access a multitude of resources and materials covering the entire Location Intelligence portfolio of offerings.

 

MapInfo Professional v12.0 is designed to help organisations understand their business, analyse trends geographically and make critical decisions with greater clarity of potential risk and opportunity.  This version makes it even easier to create maps with several cartographic output features and data management improvements.

MapInfo Professional v12.0 builds on the following characteristics.


Create cartographic output more quickly

  • New labelling algorithms and options provide control and results.

  • A legend designer makes effective map keys/legends.

  • Improved scale bars – “smarter” scale bar offers improved appearance

  • Easier printing to scale

  • Easier arrangement of elements within the Layout window

Access to more data

Support for PostGIS v2.0, sharing data with Autodesk products via SQLite, improved support for Microsoft SQL Server, WFS v1.1 support and improved data import capabilities.

Improved user interface

MapInfo Professional v12.0 continues to build on its legacy of being easy to use with numerous enhancements to reduce mouse clicks and make everyday tasks easier.  Improvements to drawing and editing, managing tables and smart zooming for tile server layers.

Premium Services and out-of-the-box connectivity to MapInfo Manager’s data management capabilities enable users to opt for additional functionality for effective spatial data creation, editing and analysis.
