SUMMARY:2026 FIG & UNECE WPLA International Conference
DESCRIPTION:Throughout history, societies have sought to document, secure, and manage the relationship between people and land. Over the past decades, the importance of land administration systems has been emphasized through numerous initiatives, international projects, and conceptual developments. At the same time, rapid technological advancements continue to transform and facilitate the work of land professionals around the world.Despite these achievements, we firmly believe that we are still far from reaching a point where “everything that needs to be done has been done, and everything that needs to be said has been said” in the field of land administration. Cadastre and land registration are not static achievements; they are living systems that require continuous adaptation, improvement, and innovation.
With this understanding, we are pleased to invite you to the International Conference jointly organized by the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Commissions 2, 7, and 9, together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Working Party on Land Administration (UNECE WPLA), to be held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on 28–30 October 2026.
The conference theme, “Legal Security, Electronic Registers, AI and Property Valuation,” reflects some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing the land sector today. The event will provide a unique platform for experts, practitioners, policymakers, academics, and industry representatives to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and explore innovative approaches to land administration.
This international gathering also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Civil Code, offering a timely opportunity to reflect on more than a century of developments in land registration and cadastre, while discussing future directions through international experiences and best practices.
Bringing together participants from across the globe in a city that bridges continents, cultures, and civilizations, the conference will feature a rich program including plenary sessions, panel discussions, technical sessions, and networking opportunities. Under the motto:
“Bridging Land Tenure, Value and Education for Security, Sovereignty and Sustainability”"
