1Spatial Inaugural Conference

1Spatial (formerly known as Laser-Scan) (United Kingdom) is organising the inaugural 1Spatial Conference which will take place on 2nd-3rd May 2007 at the Ordnance Survey Great Britain Business Centre, Southampton, UK.

The 1Spatial Conference will be this year's premier event on the transformation, management and quality control of spatial data. Based around the theme of 'Fitness for Purpose', the conference will:

-         Explore the efficient use and reuse of spatial data within and across organisations

-         Discuss effective data sharing

-         Stimulate debate for delegates involved in establishing spatial data infrastructures

-         Engage delegates with presentations, demonstrations, workshops and real-world case studies

-         Provide delegates with an insight into all aspects of spatial data management and current best practices.

The 1Spatial Conference is open to anyone interested in using spatial data effectively. It offers the chance to learn from industry experts and leading practitioners from the mainstream Information Technologies and Open Standards communities, as well as providing excellent networking opportunities. Whatever your role from chief executives and directors, through to expert Practitioners and Programmers, this conference offers you the chance to learn more about the issues of spatial data management and spatial data quality control. Come to the leading independent industry event and learn how to make more effective and efficient use of spatial data throughout your organisation and across dispersed spatial data infrastructures.

The conference will also host the first 1Spatial Community meeting. The 1Spatial Community is the global partner network of like-minded organisations committed to redefining spatial data through quality, standards and interoperability. It consists of Industry, Channel, Integration and Strategic Partners. These range from organisations with domain expertise and applications for public sector like GDC in the UK and Spatial Technology AB in Sweden through to global data providers like Tele Atlas and industry giants like Oracle.

1Spatial has announced keynote sessions from David Schell, (CEO and chairman of the board, Open Geospatial Consortium) and Gary Lang, (VP Engineering, Infrastructure Solutions Division, Autodesk and director OSGeo Foundation). With other key industry presentations from Oracle and Ordnance Survey Great Britain, it promises to be an authoritative event in this year's spatial data calendar.
