AGI 2007: Building a GeoCommunity

The organisers of AGI 2007: Building a GeoCommunity have announced a comprehensive range of hands on workshops as part of this years conference programme. AGI 2007 has already attracted contributions from representatives of Google, Navteq, Oracle, Atkins, The Environment Agency, Metropolitan Police and Zurich together with record ‘early bird' delegate registrations.

The Workshop programme will be co-ordinated and managed by Training 4 GIS and will include contributions from Ordnance Survey, Pitney Bowes MapInfo, ESRI (UK) and The GeoInformation Group.

Delegates at AGI 2007: Building a GeoCommunity will be able to reserve places in advance at the hands on training sessions as part of their conference registration. With a guaranteed educational content the workshops will explore the application of GIS for commercial benefit, address the changing role of geographic information within government and unravel some of truths behind geographic data in the 21st century.

The workshop programme will be co-ordinated and managed by Training 4 GIS, the training and consultancy division of The GeoInformation Group. As a corporate member of the Association for Geographic Information (AGI) and Ordnance Survey Accredited Consultants Training 4 GIS has delivered a wide range of customised training solutions to organisations across the UK including Communities and Local Government, Halcrow and London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority. Each session will be delivered by industry experts representing organisations such as Ordnance Survey, Pitney Bowes MapInfo, ESRI (UK), The GeoInformation Group and others.

As part of the AGI Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPD) and the Royal Geographical Society with IBG (RGS-IBG) Chartered Geographer scheme delegates at AGI 2007: Building a GeoCommunity will be able to use their attendance as part of their annual training objective.

AGI 2007: Building a GeoCommunity will be, for the first time, a fully residential conference held at the Holiday Inn, Stratford Upon Avon from 19th -20th September. Attendance at the event offers the opportunity to participate in open debate sessions, network with peers at the AGI Party and view the latest product and service offerings at the Sponsor Showcase Exhibition.
