Agricultural Improvements in Sierra Leone

SuperGIS Desktop 3 and SuperPad 3 have been selected to improve agricultural research and the palm oil plantation business in Sierra Leone. The sales agreements have been handled by Satscanner Sdn. Bhd., one of SuperGeo Malaysia's local dealers. The end user, Sierra Leone Agriculture Limited, is focused on the development of the palm oil plantation business in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Positioned at surveying and data collection, the fully functional mobile GIS software SuperPad 3 is equipped with rich GIS and GPS functions to assist surveyors in field tasks. After installing SuperPad 3 in mobile devices, users can easily collect, display, measure, and update spatial data. The camera function can capture field objects with accurate coordinate information and the customisation tools can facilitate the works without extra costs.

The collected data can then be further demonstrated and edited in SuperGIS Desktop 3, the powerful desktop GIS software. With the comprehensive mapping functions and easy-to-use GIS manipulation, SuperGIS Desktop 3 can support the staff at Sierra Leone Agriculture Limited to visualise the spatial data for advanced analysis.

With nearly 60% of its income generated by the agricultural industry, Sierra Leone relies on land management and agricultural development. The utilisation of GIS technologies will benefit the use of land and therefore contribute to the economy of the country.
