Blue Marble to Conduct Global Mapper Workshop

Blue Marble Geographics will be conducting a workshop at the forthcoming AAG (Association of American Geographers) Annual Meeting in Tampa, Florida, USA. The workshop, entitled 'Lidar Processing and Terrain Analysis in Global Mapper', is scheduled for Wednesday, 9 April from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Blue Marble's geospatial data solutions are used worldwide by GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and university organisations.

As one of the largest geographic conferences in the world, the AAG Annual Meeting and Exhibition will host as many as 7,000 geographers, GIS specialists, and environmental scientists from around the world and offers a forum for industry leaders to showcase the most recent trends in geographic technologies and ideas that impact business, government, and academia.

The Global Mapper workshop will provide an opportunity for AAG delegates to learn about some of the latest developments that have been integrated into the Global Mapper software platform, including the recently released Lidar Module. Using real-world scenarios, attendees will see how Global Mapper can be used to import, edit, filter, and crop Lidar point cloud data. The workshop will also include instruction on the process for transforming Lidar data into a terrain model and will showcase several examples of the analysis tools that can be applied to this 3D data. Workshop attendees will be provided with a trial copy of Global Mapper as well as some sample datasets that they can use to follow along on their own laptop computers during the class.
