British Embassy to Host Laser Scanning Forum in Chile

The British Embassy in Chile will play host to a showcase of the latest developments and technical innovations in laser scanning. Organised through UK Trade and Investment, the forum will feature demonstrations of the laser scanning monitoring system SiteMonitor as well as mobile handheld rapid laser mapping system ZEB1. With support from UK-based 3D Laser Mapping and SiteMonitor Systems as well as local surveying specialists GEOCOM, the one-day event will take place on 25 March 2014 in Santiago.

Carlos Escudero, co-founder of Santiago based GEOCOM, commented that surveying, geotechnical measurements and geodesy are thriving industries in Chile and the recent advancements in laser scanning and monitoring are of huge interest to the mining, exploration, construction and mapping communities. This event will provide a marvellous chance for anyone with an interest in laser scanning to get hands on with some of the most advanced solutions currently on the market.

Graham Hunter, executive chairman and founder of 3D Laser Mapping added that, with support from UK Trade and  Investment and GEOCOM, it has been possible to organise this event bringing the very latest innovations in laser scanning to Chile. For the British Embassy to host such an event is an enormous honour.

The Laser Scanning Forum will feature a number of presentations from senior representative of the participating companies 3D Laser Mapping, SiteMonitor Systems and GEOCOM, system demonstrations and networking opportunities.

The morning sessions will focus on laser scanning for slope stability monitoring while the afternoon presentations will showcase new surveying techniques for underground mapping. Delegates are invited to attend either morning or afternoon sessions, or both.

Participation in the Laser Scanning Forum, being held on 25 March 2014 at the British Embassy in Santiago, is by invitation only. For further information or to request an invitation please contact Scott Bennett by email at scott.bennett@fco.gov.uk or Roberto Eltit at eventos@geocom.cl
