Castle Surveys expands large-scale mobile mapping capability with two Leica TRK systems

Castle Surveys has become the first UK company to own and operate two Leica TRK mobile mapping systems: the TRK Neo 500 and TRK Neo 700. By offering this dual-system capability, the company hopes to reinforce its position in the geomatics industry by offering greater capacity, flexibility and resilience for large-scale mobile mapping projects across the UK and Europe.

Castle Surveys’ activities span the broad spectrum of the built environment, ranging from individual residential properties to large-scale infrastructure and commercial developments. These cover various survey disciplines, including measured building surveys, topographical surveys, land and engineering surveys, and specialist surveys for complex or constrained sites.

Previous projects have included a comprehensive measured building, topographic and drainage survey of St. Martin’s Church in the famous Bullring area of Birmingham, complex land, building, utility and drainage surveys at Network Rail’s Paddington Train Station offices in London, a topographical and measured building survey to support modernization at Craigentinny Rail Maintenance Depot in Edinburgh, and a detailed measured building survey and LOD 300 Revit model for a major office-to-lab conversion at London’s Canary Wharf. Each project demonstrates Castle Surveys’ practical approach, technical expertise and commitment to producing clear, usable outputs tailored to clients’ requirements.

Unique TRK mobile mapping capability

Owning and running both a single-head Leica TRK Neo 500 and a dual-head TRK Neo 700 puts the company in a unique position to match the right platform to each project, delivering accurate, reliable survey data that supports informed decision-making at every stage.

According to Castle Surveys, this is “a hugely exciting milestone” for both the company and the wider surveying community. Owning and operating both the Leica TRK Neo 500 and the TRK Neo 700 gives the company the capacity to deliver high-accuracy corridor data faster, safer and at a scale previously out of reach, providing clients with greater certainty on programme and quality. Meanwhile, it opens the door for fellow survey companies to pursue tenders and frameworks they might otherwise have walked away from by giving them direct access to Castle Surveys’ TRK platforms, processing workflows and technical support while they retain the client relationship.
