Cooperation for Interference, Detection and Mitigation Solutions

ITT Exelis, USA, and Chronos Technology, UK, have entered into an agreement to jointly pursue and develop product offerings for the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Interference, Detection and Mitigation (IDM) market. Satellite-based positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) systems are vulnerable to many factors, such as signals jamming, resulting in potentially devastating system failures.

The collaboration between ITT Exelis and Chronos Technology will allow both companies to respond to the IDM market by offering a set of complementary products and solutions.

According to Mark Pisani, vice president and general manager, Positioning, Navigation and Timing Systems, Geospatial Systems, a division of ITT Exelis, the combination of their PNT heritage with Chronos' timing synchronisation and GNSS jamming detection capabilities makes this collaboration a perfect fit.

Charles Curry, founder and managing director, Chronos Technology, said that GNSS has revolutionised PNT over the last twenty years, but the IDM threat is real and the risks are increasing. He expects that by joining with ITT Exelis, Chronos will be able to provide practical solutions to the IDM market in the near future.
