Delivery fleet becomes Geopost’s new mapping asset

What if the most valuable maps of Europe are being created not by survey crews, but by delivery vans quietly crisscrossing the continent every day? Geopost, the international parcel delivery network, has launched Geopost Vision, a new venture that transforms its vast delivery fleet into a continuous, GDPR-compliant data collection system for mapping providers, mobility companies and infrastructure planners. With more than 65,000 vehicles covering over two billion kilometres a year across Europe, the company is positioning itself as a major new supplier of high-frequency street-level imagery.

Geopost Vision uses connected dashcams installed on thousands of vehicles from brands including DPD, SEUR, BRT and Chronopost. As drivers complete their daily routes, the system passively captures anonymized imagery across urban, suburban and rural environments. Faces, licence plates and other personal identifiers are automatically removed before the data is processed and delivered to clients through APIs. The imagery is not published or shared publicly; instead, partners use it to detect new road signs, speed limits, traffic lights and other changes in the streetscape.

Data scale and refresh rate

The service already operates in 11 countries including France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Portugal and the Netherlands. Coverage will expand to 10 additional countries by 2026, reaching a total footprint of 21 European markets. The scale and refresh rate of the data, combined with consistent collection across borders, is designed to offer a unique resource to organizations working on mapping, autonomous mobility, infrastructure monitoring and risk modelling in insurance.

Geopost emphasizes that its approach is built around strict privacy standards. All imagery undergoes automated anonymization, and the company maintains full control over data processing and usage to ensure compliance with European regulations. Only derived insights, such as the detection of new road objects, are shared with customers.

Up-to-date and scalable street-level imagery platform

With Geopost Vision, the company aims to support the development of data-driven mobility and infrastructure solutions across Europe. "By harnessing Geopost’s unmatched delivery network and state-of-the-art camera technology, we are building Europe’s most up-to-date and scalable street-level imagery platform, providing access to GDPR-compliant data that can enhance navigation and road safety, or improve the quality of urban infrastructure,” said Martin Calmels, CEO of Geopost Vision.

The venture will present its technology at CES 2026 in Las Vegas together with camera and platform provider Nextbase, highlighting how in-vehicle systems can deliver consistent and large-scale geospatial data.

By turning ordinary delivery operations into a strategic data asset, Geopost Vision seeks to demonstrate how logistics networks can contribute to better mapping, smarter cities and safer roads across Europe.
