EdgeWise Lite brings point cloud modelling to more AEC firms
To lower the barrier to entry for firms seeking a more efficient path from raw scan data to Revit-ready as-built models, ClearEdge3D has introduced a new licensing tier within its EdgeWise platform. The release of EdgeWise Lite marks a strategic expansion of the company's product portfolio, aimed at broadening access to semi-automated point cloud modelling for architecture, engineering and construction professionals.
The new tier addresses a clear gap in the market: architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) professionals who require a reliable, streamlined workflow between point cloud and as-built model, but for whom existing solutions have fallen short on flexibility, whether in terms of project volume or cost structure.
The workflow is straightforward: select features in a point cloud, extract geometry fit to standards and specifications, verify accuracy, and export native models directly to Revit. EdgeWise Lite supports six element types: pipe, structure, ducts, conduit, cable trays, and walls, and is compatible with a wide range of SLAM and TLS point cloud datasets.
Spec-driven extraction engine
The software’s algorithm extracts accurate geometry and fits it to industry standards and specifications automatically, with the option to customize to specific project requirements. QA/QC tools are built directly into the workflow: Smart Sheet displays point cloud coverage, specification compliance and element length for every modelled element, and a cross-section view lets users verify and adjust elements in context before a deliverable is finalized. When modelling is complete, users export directly to Revit as native family objects.
“EdgeWise Lite brings a professional-grade as-built modelling tool to teams at a price point that opens the door for firms that have traditionally done this work manually,” said Paul-Devin Kuettner, director of product management at ClearEdge3D. “It’s the same spec-driven extraction engine our customers rely on – now accessible to a much broader range of professionals.”.
ClearEdge3D has also announced a partnership with Stonex, making EdgeWise Lite available bundled with select Stonex SLAM scanner purchases or as standalone software. The partnership gives teams a flexible path to a complete scan-to-as-built workflow, whether they are purchasing new hardware or already have a scanner in the field.
