Emlid adds one-click RTK corrections to GNSS receivers
Emlid has introduced Emlid Corrections, a new RTK correction service integrated directly into its Reach line of GNSS receivers and the Emlid Flow mobile app. The service, powered by Point One Navigation's corrections network, is designed to remove one of the most persistent obstacles in professional surveying: the setup and configuration of external correction sources.
Every field-ready Reach receiver now ships with one year of Emlid Corrections included at no additional cost. Users can activate the service directly within the Emlid Flow app.
Achieving centimetre-accurate positioning with RTK-enabled GNSS receivers has traditionally required either deploying a local base station or subscribing to a third-party regional correction network, both of which demand technical setup, ongoing management or complex licensing. Emlid Corrections aims to eliminate that friction entirely.
Virtual reference station architecture
With the new service active, users can open the Emlid Flow app, select Emlid Corrections and begin surveying with centimetre-level precision, without configuring a base station or negotiating access to a regional RTK network.
The service supports all of Emlid's current field-ready hardware, including the Reach RX, RX2, RS2, RS2+, RS3, RS4 and RS4 Pro. Licences are device-specific and are activated through the Emlid Flow application.
Under the hood, Emlid Corrections draws on Point One Navigation's virtual reference station (VRS) architecture, delivering corrections over the internet. According to the companies, the system achieves horizontal and vertical accuracy of 1-2 centimetres, or sub-inch precision, within covered regions.
That coverage currently spans the United States, the United Kingdom, much of continental Europe, New Zealand and Australia, with additional regions expected as Point One continues to expand its base station network. Point One designs, manufactures, deploys and monitors each base station in the network daily, with baseline spacing of under 40km across covered areas – a density the companies say supports both accuracy and fast positioning convergence.
A scalable model for teams of all sizes
Emlid positions the new service as suited to a wide range of users, from first-time GNSS operators to enterprise-level architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) teams running cross-border operations.
For smaller or fast-moving crews, the appeal is speed: rather than deploying and calibrating a local base station, users can get an operational RTK fix within seconds, a feature the company says is particularly useful for quick site checks and teams without a dedicated surveying specialist on hand.
For larger organizations, the value proposition centres on standardization. Regional RTK network availability and pricing structures vary considerably, complicating deployment across multiple jurisdictions. Emlid Corrections instead offers a single, per-device licence that functions uniformly across all covered regions, with no shared-account restrictions or concurrent-connection limits – a structure the company says simplifies fleet management for survey firms and AEC teams operating multiple receivers.
