Emlid and Wingtra launch all-in-one survey-grade aerial data capture kit

A partnership between Emlid and Wingtra has resulted in the new WingtraGROUND: an all-in-one survey kit that optimizes base station and checkpoint setup. Emlid is a manufacturer of high-precision GNSS equipment manufacturer, and Wingtra is a leading provider of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) drone technology in surveying and mapping.

WingtraGROUND provides turnkey infrastructure for on-site post-processed kinematic (PPK) surveys using WingtraONE Gen II, a VTOL drone widely regarded as the benchmark in the industry. The kit consolidates all the essential hardware elements of ground control setup – receivers, checkpoints and tools – into a single, portable set, enabling surveyors to deliver more accurate data faster.

In addition, WingtraGROUND streamlines workflows by providing step-by-step setup guidance via the Wingtra tablet. This allows surveyors to confirm correct receiver placement and avoid common errors due to improper base station setup and inaccurate coordinates.

Aerial data validation

The Wingtra receivers are powered by the advanced features of the Emlid Reach RS3. Delivering accuracy within two centimetres, they meet the highest standards for aerial data validation. The receivers can be used independently for real-time kinematic (RTK) terrestrial surveys, including point collection and stakeout for topography, boundary mapping, construction and GIS applications. Precise data collection is ensured at all times thanks to automatic connectivity between the tablet and the receivers, as well as real-time synchronization with WingtraCloud.

By integrating Emlid’s GNSS technology into WingtraGROUND, the two companies are striving to eliminate barriers to an accurate base station and checkpoint setup. According to them, their partnership is democratizing aerial surveying by unlocking its full potential for professionals with different levels of expertise. They describe the kit as representing more than just a set of tools; it is a complete workflow that makes high-precision aerial surveys with Wingtra easier and more accessible than ever.
