ERM Updates Compression Software

ER Mapper (Australia) has updated its free image compression application to the new JPEG 2000 compression format, as well as to the ECW format. The free compressor allows 8-bit RGB and greyscale compressions into the ECW and JPEG 2000 formats for images up to 500MB. Larger images can be compressed with the ER Mapper application or by using the ECW JPEG 2000 Software Development Kit. Non-8 bit images or the compression of larger images requires ER Mapper 7, which features variable bit-depth and loss-less compression options.
