ESRI for Global GIS Enterprise License

Newmont Mining Corporation has selected ESRI as its enterprise GIS software provider. Newmont Mining is the second largest gold producer in the world, with operations on five continents. The global enterprise license agreement will enable Newmont Mining to deploy the full suite of ArcGIS products in an open, scalable, and standards-based GIS architecture that will integrate with and leverage existing Newmont Mining IT resources.

The ESRI global enterprise license replaces Newmont Mining’s previous GIS, offering greater opportunity for more integrated and robust applications. ESRI products will allow the company to create distributed data repositories, which will replicate data from central servers. The company’s data will be accessed via an intranet portal by a wide variety of employees from GIS professionals to casual users.
Matthew Bidwell, Newmont’s manager of Worldwide GIS, says, “Our global enterprise license agreement will enable us to organise our data in one consistent standardised architecture. Our geologists will be able to more easily and quickly locate the data they need. The enterprise license agreement makes it easy to implement GIS throughout Newmont. Our offices no longer need to be concerned with negotiating for and distributing GIS software. This is huge for us. We do not have to worry about writing purchase requests each time we hire a new geologist.”
