Expanded Road Database

NAVTEQ (IL, USA) has added five new attributes to its digital road maps: enhanced geometry accuracy, speed limit, special speed situation, variable speed signs and number of lanes. These new attributes are available for North America and Europe. However, local variations in availability occur depending on the level of roadway. The company has also launched full map coverage of Finland's road network, extending its road database to now cover all four Nordic countries. The Finnish database includes 614,177 kilometres of road, covering 304,541 square kilometres of territory and 451 towns and cities. The road network of rural counties and provinces has been added for turn-by-turn routing instructions to and from addresses all over the country. The database offers precise geometry and extraordinary thematic detail, as each road segment features up to 160 attributes.
