First European 3D Documentation Conference

FARO Europe is launching a series of events on the theme of 3D laser scanning with the 3D Documentation Congress. The opening event will take place in Essen on 17th and 18th May 2011 at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Zollverein coal mine industrial complex.

3D laser scanning is suitable for a wide range of applications: for quickly and reliably recording existing structures or damaged buildings, for surveying and taking stock of monuments, at archaeological excavations, in plant construction and in forensic reconstruction. And the possibilities offered by this innovative technology are equally wide-ranging. FARO intends to establish the 3D Documentation Congress as a regular event in order to provide a valuable communication platform for users, development partners and potential customers.

In addition to specialist talks and numerous workshops, participants can expect to find a comprehensive presentation of the latest hardware and software solutions from FARO marketing and development partners. This event, which in the future will be held at a different European location each year, will centre on the exchange of ideas and information between the users of the various systems and technologies.

Dr. Bernd-Dietmar Becker, Director of Product Management for 3D Laser Scanners at FARO, appears wholly convinced by this integrated and interdisciplinary approach and anticipates around 250 visitors to the opening event: "In order to meet the expectations of those attending, our congress programme offers a good mix of presentations by users and the latest system and technology developments from FARO and its software partners. This will appeal to our many existing customers as well as many interested parties."
