Frankfurt becomes annual host for Intergeo from 2028
Starting in 2028, Intergeo, sponsored by DVW, will be organized by Mesago Messe Frankfurt, taking over from the event's long-time partner, Hinte Expo & Conference. DVW (the German Association for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management) and Hinte will continue their successful collaboration up to and including Intergeo 2027.
Looking ahead, DVW and Mesago Messe Frankfurt aim to further evolve the event, focusing on future-proofing the trade fair. The consistent growth and increasing international profile of Intergeo have prompted this strategic shift. Sustainability will also play a central role, with initiatives like reusing stand materials and streamlining organizational processes.
Permanent home for Intergeo
Intergeo will be held annually in Frankfurt from 2028 onwards, with a permanent October slot expected to be well received by many companies, providing greater consistency for planning and participation. Frankfurt am Main, often referred to as Frankfurt, is a major financial and business hub in Germany. Known for its iconic skyline and metropolitan atmosphere, the city is also a global transportation centre, featuring one of the world’s busiest airports and excellent rail and road connections.
Prof Rudolf Staiger, president of DVW, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Mesago Messe Frankfurt. He believes this partnership will bring new opportunities for Intergeo, saying: “We are very much looking forward to working together with the Mesago Messe Frankfurt team and have no doubt that we will be able to take Intergeo to the next level together in a way that will benefit exhibitors and visitors alike.” He also highlighted the advantages of Frankfurt as a permanent venue, noting that its central location and consistent scheduling will serve all participants well.
Wolfgang Marzin, president and CEO of Messe Frankfurt, emphasized Mesago Messe Frankfurt's long-standing expertise in organizing technology-oriented events. “Our subsidiary Mesago Messe Frankfurt is a highly experienced event organizer with over 40 years’ expertise in technology-oriented trade fairs,” he noted. He added that the company's team of around 160 employees brings international expertise and fosters strong partnerships with associations, publishing houses, and academic institutions to enhance the events they manage.
Enhancing global reach
Intergeo stands as the premier international trade fair and leading platform for the geoinformation sector. Moving forward, the event organizing committee targets over 600 exhibitors from more than 40 countries, further solidifying Frankfurt as a major hub for innovation and industry collaboration. In 2023, the event attracted approximately 17,800 visitors, with nearly 45% coming from outside Germany, and one of the ambitions is to expand its global reach by attracting more visitors from a wider variety of countries.
Given the rapid pace of innovation in the geospatial industry, the trade fair concept is continually evolving to keep Intergeo at the forefront of the sector. Already confirmed for Frankfurt in 2025 and 2027, the event’s commitment to a single-location strategy underscores efforts to meet the evolving needs of exhibitors and attendees, while maintaining its status as the leading platform for the industry.
DVW will continue to be responsible for the conference accompanying Intergeo, keeping it a core feature of the industry’s foremost platform. The conference brings together leading experts from science, academia, industry, associations, societies, and policymakers to shape future directions and discuss innovative solutions to today’s pressing challenges. Interestingly, Intergeo 2025 was already planned for October in Frankfurt, prior to the announcement of Frankfurt becoming the permanent host venue. The 2026 edition, however, will take place in Munich, Bavaria.
