Geo Week 2027 hosted in Salt Lake City

Geo Week, North America's premier geospatial and mapping technology event, announced that it will relocate to Salt Lake City, Utah from Denver, Colorado in 2027. The move positions the event in one of the nation's fastest-growing tech markets with an established geospatial ecosystem and a thriving community of mapping professionals.

"We're eager to host Geo Week in Salt Lake City and expand our industry partnerships," said Lee Corkhill, event director for Geo Week. "The city puts our industry's work on display, from maintaining sophisticated GIS operations covering water systems, utilities, transportation infrastructure, and public lands, to lidar acquisition and open data initiatives, making Salt Lake City an ideal location for showcasing geospatial technology in action."

Salt Lake City and the surrounding region are home to thousands of geospatial professionals across the public sector, utilities and private firms. As one of the fastest-growing tech hubs in the United States, the city provides a strong foundation for geospatial innovation.

A collaborative geospatial ecosystem

Utah’s well-established ecosystem of professional associations, user groups and government programs fosters collaboration across the sector. State and local agencies maintain advanced GIS operations covering water systems, utilities, stormwater, transportation infrastructure, public lands and Lidar acquisition, while open data initiatives provide broad access to extensive spatial datasets.

A well-established university network fuels the geospatial workforce, producing a steady stream of skilled professionals. Salt Lake City boasts one of the highest concentrations of young professionals in North America and continues to attract growing numbers of college-educated residents.

University research labs provide specialized expertise in spatial analysis and geospatial technologies, working alongside regional user groups and professional associations to ensure students graduate with practical, industry-ready skills. Together, this academic network supports initiatives like Geo Week and reinforces long-term workforce development across the region.

Geo Week 2027 brings the geospatial community together to examine how data, mapping and advanced technologies translate into real-world impact. Few settings illustrate that impact better than Salt Lake City, where alpine peaks, desert systems and the Great Salt Lake converge in one dynamic landscape.

The event will take place 23-25 February 2027 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City. For more information and to sign up for event updates, see here.
