Getac’s rugged Android tablet meets survey challenges
Getac has launched the ZX10 10-inch fully rugged Android tablet, which combines lightweight design with powerful AI-ready performance and intuitive Android functionality. The next-generation ZX10 is aimed at professionals working in industries that require devices they can trust in the challenging environments and scenarios they encounter daily. The new tablet provides essential benefits for land surveyors and geomatics specialists conducting on-site tasks.
Powerful processors, GPS functionality and precise measurement software enable efficient data collection by land surveyors and geometry specialists. At the heart of the next generation ZX10 are Qualcomm’s QCS6490 processor and neural processor unit (NPU). These are purpose-built to support advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and deliver high performance, even at lower power levels. Other key features include advanced memory (8GB LPDDR5) for fast data transfer and up to 256GB of universal flash storage (UFS) for a smooth and seamless user experience when running multiple applications simultaneously.
Productivity in challenging environments
Like all Getac devices, the ZX10 is rugged by design to minimize downtime and support productivity in challenging environments. With MIL-STD-810H certification, IP66 certification and 6ft drop resistance, it can withstand the rigours of intensive field work. The operating temperature range of -29°C to 63°C ensures reliability in adverse weather conditions and extreme climates.
Additionally, the device has an upgraded 1,000nits LumiBond screen with sunlight-readable technology plus capacitive multi-touch display for effective operation in the rain and while wearing gloves. An optional active digitizer with stylus is also available for fast, accurate note taking and data entry in heavy rain and/or extremely low temperatures.
Enhancing efficiency of outdoor surveying
The intuitive Android 13 operating system is installed as standard on the next generation ZX10. This supports versatility and ease of use, meeting the needs of outdoor surveying in all kinds of circumstances. The ZX10 is also verified as an Android Enterprise Recommended rugged device, complying with all the specifications and requirements of Google’s rigorous testing process. This means it will be fully supported with at least five years of security updates and is guaranteed to support at least three Android OS version upgrades, along with all regular feature enhancements over this period.
The next generation ZX10 is fully compatible with Getac’s Essentials Suite – a comprehensive collection of powerful software solutions designed to help organizations overcome operational challenges and enhance field worker efficiency. This includes innovative new apps such as Getac Management, Getac Monitoring, OEMConfig and Driving Safety.
Optimized connectivity and power for fieldwork
The next generation ZX10 offers dual SIM support (Nano SIM + eSIM) for seamless network coverage, along with WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and optional dual-band GPS for fast data transfer and precise location tracking. Configurations with 4G LTE and 5G Sub-6 are also available for users with advanced communication needs.
A hot-swappable dual-battery system ensures uninterrupted operation, while an optional high-capacity Li-ion battery pack provides major extended runtime. For stationary setups, such as mounting on vehicles, a single battery configuration is available.
Lightweight device
Despite all these credentials, the ZX10’s weight starts at just 906g. “For field-based professionals, device weight can have a significant impact on productivity, particularly when carrying and/or operating it for extended periods of time,” comments James Hwang, president of Getac. “Not only is the next generation ZX10 the lightest 10-inch fully rugged tablet currently available on the market, but its powerful combination of AI-ready performance, extensive configurability, fully rugged reliability, and intuitive Android OS makes it one of the most versatile as well.”
