HERE Technologies Joins OGC as a Principal Member

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) has announced that HERE Technologies has joined the OGC as a Principal Member. As a Principal Member, HERE will participate across OGC activities and serve in OGC's Planning Committee to explore market and technology trends relevant to OGC's mission, and to assure that OGC's policies and procedures remain effective and agile in a changing technological environment. Principal Members also participate in final approval decisions for all OGC standards and for nominations to the Board of Directors.

HERE Technologies and OGC share similar visions about the value of location information to improve the ways we live and work, said George Percivall, OGC’s CTO & Chief Engineer. He added OGC looks forward to working with HERE and its Open Location Platform for interoperable and open location data management services.

Open standards

Angel Mendez, EVP and chief operating officer at HERE Technologies, stated that the Open Geospatial Consortium unites key players from the global geospatial industry as a platform for building and providing open standards around location data and APIs.
