Intergeo locks in Hamburg as a long-term partner city
A ten-year agreement signed recently in Hamburg, Germany, has laid the groundwork for a long-term partnership around the organization of future Intergeo events that will once again alternate between venues. The agreement is between DVW e.V. (the German Association for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management) and Hamburg Messe und Congress, and will take effect in 2028.
The partnership marks a shift in Intergeo’s venue concept – one designed to better serve the industry’s needs. Rather than returning to the same city every year, the world’s leading exhibition and congress platform for geodesy, geoinformation and land management will be held in Hamburg in odd years starting 2029, and will alternate between two other major German trade fair cities in even years from 2028 onwards.
The two partners plan to host their first joint Intergeo Expo and Conference in 2028, at a venue to be announced in due course. Hamburg Messe und Congress will take on operational management of the exhibition, while the Intergeo Conference remains a core part of the event, run under DVW’s operational and expert leadership.
Proven concept of alternating between venues
“In Hamburg Messe und Congress, we have won a strong partner for the continuation of the successful long-term development of Intergeo. At the same time, we have abandoned other plans in favour of resuming our proven concept of alternating between venues to a certain extent so as to strengthen our ties with our industry in Germany and across Europe,” said DVW President Prof. Rudolf Staiger. “Our cooperation agreement provides an excellent basis for implementing this flexible concept.”
“Intergeo is another major industry event we have been able to win for Hamburg,” said Uwe Fischer, CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress. “Intergeo is one of the foremost international events highlighting innovations in the fields of geodesy, geoinformation and land management. We are more than pleased to have won DVW as our partner to jointly shape the future of this flagship event. The CCH – Congress Center Hamburg, our exhibition halls and the ‘Planten un Blomen’ park form an optimal, highly attractive campus for it.”
Intergeo is widely regarded as the world’s leading trade event and platform for the geoinformation sector, bringing together companies, research institutions, government agencies and users from around the globe. The industry’s fast pace of innovation, coupled with emerging technologies, calls for an event format that keeps evolving. The new partnership aims to strengthen Intergeo’s international standing as a platform for knowledge exchange, innovation and business over the long term, while expanding its role as a networking event through new formats.
