International Land Banking/Land Consolidation Conference

4CLI/CELK (Central-European Centre for Communication, Consultation and Land Issues) (Hungary) has announced that it is hosting an international conference on land consolidation and land banking issues to be held in Budapest, Hungary on 1-2 December 2005.


Land Consolidation and availability of Land Funds bear a crucial significance for all the ex-communist countries due to the fact that the modernisation of land market has become a pressing and salient economic duty for the governments of these countries.


The conference will highlight the following topics:


  • the differences between the political approach relating to land consolidation in Western and Eastern countries
  • what kind of legislation, political and historical issues obstruct the accomplishment of land consolidation policies, how governments react to these, how to overcome them
  • how can the Western professionals and decision-makers help put Land Consolidation on the political agenda of Eastern countries.
  • the importance/influence of land banking/land funds on the region’s land market
  • the type of bank and credit instruments which are needed and available for land market development.


The conference will have approximately 100 land experts from over 20 countries attending and debating their views.


The participants will be the representatives of the most relevant international organisations on land consolidation as well as experts and decision makers from the public sector of Central and Eastern Europe.
