Leica DMC III Aerial Frame Sensor with CMOS Technology

Leica Geosystems has announced the DMC III, a large-format CMOS airborne sensor, which it describes as one of the most efficient digital mapping cameras on the market. The DMC III will offer a single-frame sensor of 25,000 pixels. The single monolithic sensor providing 391 megapixels offers productivity for airborne image data collection. The new CMOS sensor technology includes benefits like 78dB dynamic range and extremely low image noise level, allowing customers to fly more hours per day.

Based on the airborne sensor design of Leica Geosystems, the DMC III supports the common sensor platform with Lidar and oblique sensors to minimise operating and training costs. With its wide application range, the Leica DMC III captures professional high-resolution 3D data for engineering, urban mapping and statewide orthophoto projects.

Integrated Processing Workflow

Leica Geosystems is also introducing HxMAP RealCity, the integrated software workflow to process large datasets quickly and easily. Available with the release of the Leica DMCIII, HxMAP RealCity Enabler and Provider offer project management, quality control view, radiometric tools and distributed processing. 

Availability

The Leica DMC III will be available in September 2015 with advance orders now being accepted. Upgrades from DMC II or DMC IIe systems are possible.
