Leica Geosystems expands mobile mapping portfolio with Pegasus TRK300 system
Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, has introduced the Leica Pegasus TRK300, a compact and adaptable mobile mapping solution designed to support a range of geospatial applications. Mobile mapping continues to play a central role in enabling the efficient collection of geospatial data, underpinning developments such as smart city planning, infrastructure upgrades and digital twin implementation.
The TRK300 is intended to support users with varying levels of experience in collecting high-quality point cloud data. “The Pegasus TRK300 opens exciting opportunities for any business looking to enhance and grow their mapping capabilities, from identifying potholes to optimizing city centre traffic flows,” said Christian Schäfer, business director mobile mapping at Leica Geosystems. “Because it is lightweight and designed with the user in mind, a single person can easily transport it and mount it to a vehicle – delivering results with minimal effort.”
Heavy rain and dusty environments
Equipped with a dual-head, multibeam scanner, the Pegasus TRK300 captures high-resolution spatial data from multiple angles, helping to reduce blind spots. The system's 300-metre range allows for efficient data collection across wide areas, reducing the number of passes required. This contributes to productivity gains in applications such as asset mapping and urban modelling.
The device is designed to operate reliably in adverse conditions, including heavy rain and dusty environments. Its battery life of up to seven hours supports extended fieldwork without the need for frequent recharging. Positioned within the existing Pegasus TRK portfolio, the TRK300 offers a balance between portability and advanced data acquisition capabilities.
Integration with Leica Pegasus Field and Pegasus Office software provides a continuous workflow from field data collection to postprocessing. This software ecosystem facilitates a range of use cases, including the mapping of streets, infrastructure, and other assets, while streamlining data handling and minimizing compatibility challenges.
