Leica Installs Czech Reference Network

The National Authority for Surveying and Cadastre in the Czech Republic issued a tender in April 2004 for the establishment of CZEPOS, a nation-wide network reference stations for RTK GPS. In addition to the two existing stations, the network will comprise 22 new stations. Geofos, Czech representative of Leica Geosystems (Switzerland), has won the bid. The investment budget is spread over three years. Six new stations and the entire software are scheduled to be installed during the first year and will provide GPS services for an important part of the country. The remaining stations will be installed during the second and third year. After 2006, when the full network is in operation, there will be no need to look for control points and to set up temporary reference stations. With the CZEPOS network, the Czech republic will have an efficient geodetic-control infrastructure.
