NovAtel Inc. Launches New RoHS Compliant GPS & L-Band Antenna

NovAtel Inc. (Canada) has announced the release of its latest GPS and L-Band antenna – the GPS-702L. This antenna features improved Real-time Kinematic (RTK) performance and offers access to the GPS L1 and L2 frequencies, as well as the L-band frequencies used by OmniSTAR and Canada-wide Differential GPS (CDGPS) correction services.

The GPS-702L is also NovAtel’s first Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliant GPS antenna, meeting the European Economic Union (EEU) directive to reduce the hazardous materials content in electronic products. The RoHS directive is a legal document issued by the EEU in February 2003. The directive in general bans new electronic equipment from being sold in Europe after 1 July 2006 if it contains more than trace levels of lead, hexavalent chromium, cadmium, mercury or certain brominated flame-retardants. NovAtel expects all future OEM products to be RoHS compliant.
