NV5 secures major surveying and mapping contract in North Carolina

NV5 has been awarded a two-year, USD10 million contract covering a wide range of geospatial and utility services to support infrastructure planning and development across the state of North Carolina on behalf of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).

As part of the agreement, NV5 will provide advanced data collection and mapping solutions, including GPS surveying, mobile and terrestrial laser scanning, aerial imagery using unmanned aerial systems (UAS), Lidar acquisition and processing, and elevation data development. Additional services will include aerial mapping control, route location surveys, and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) to support transportation project planning and design.

To ensure the quality and consistency of aerial operations, NV5 will also supply dedicated UAS operators and manage all related workflows. These capabilities are expected to help NCDOT improve the accuracy, safety and efficiency of infrastructure initiatives statewide.

“NV5’s focus on essential infrastructure services and advanced data solutions positions us to support large-scale projects that remain critical regardless of economic conditions,” said Ben Heraud, CEO of NV5, a US-based provider of technology-enabled engineering and consulting services.

“This award reflects our decades-long partnership with NCDOT and reinforces our commitment to supporting reliable, efficient and forward-looking infrastructure across North Carolina,” said Ryan Lyttle, vice president of survey at NV5.
