OGC Web Experiment

The Open Geospatial Consortium (MA, USA) invites additional participation in a Web Processing Service Interoperability Experiment to test and refine a draft implementation specification enabling geoprocessing via the internet. Participants must be OGC members, but non-member organisations may submit data through organisations that are members. The draft specification is described in the Web Processing Service (WPS) Discussion Paper and can be used to implement any kind of geospatial calculation or model as a web service, so that it can be easily found and invoked by a client. Natural Resources Canada is the leading initiator of the Interoperability Experiment. Co-initiators are the Canadian companies PCI Geomatics and Galdos Systems. Participant organisations include Aachen University of Technology (Germany), Leeds Centre for Computational Geography (UK), MIT Department of Urban Studies & Planning (USA) and Wupperverband (Germany). The WPS discussion paper and information about the WPS experiment are available via the OGC website, see URL-s below. Prospective participants can contact George Percivall for more information at percivall@opengeospatial.org.
