Q3D Sensing partners with DotProduct on pocket-sized 3D reality capture device
Q3D Sensing is launching AuraGO, designed to bring compact, mobile, long-range, professional-grade 3D reality capture to smartphones and tablets. Thanks to the Q3D Scan app developed in partnership with 3D reality capture software specialist DotProduct, AuraGO fully integrates with Dot3D’s ecosystem.
AuraGO has been developed as a scalable solution that combines spatial artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities with ease of use. Smartphone integration is one of its key features. The pocket-sized device attaches directly to – and is powered by – the user’s mobile phone or tablet, transforming it into what the company describes as “a high-precision 3D reality capture powerhouse”.
Thanks to its portable design, it is easy to transport and use in both outdoor and indoor operations. The company has also focused on performance. According to Q3D Sensing, AuraGO offers up to 100 times the range of other mobile phone options, while still delivering centimetre-level accuracy and precision. The data is captured, processed and exported into standard industry formats using the Q3D Scan app.
Designed from the ground up
“AuraGO was designed from the ground up to solve customer needs at the right price, size, weight, power and performance, enabling differentiated solutions,” says Dr Tianyue Yu, founder and CEO of Q3D Sensing, a Silicon Valley-based spatial AI technology company. “We’re expanding 3D technologies deeper into architecture, engineering & construction (AEC), public safety, gaming and robotics.”
The company shares this goal with partner DotProduct, according to Yu, which was chosen based on technical expertise, robust software performance and partner ecosystem. Engineered for use in highly demanding industries, the Dot3D application enables users to capture, edit and share high-fidelity, field-captured 3D data directly from a handheld device.
Integrated ecosystem
According to Brian Ahern, CEO of DotProduct, the two companies also share the mission of developing a long-range, easy-to-use solution to make accurate 3D scanning more accessible. “Q3D Sensing is delivering exactly that, and we are thrilled to welcome their innovation into our integrated ecosystem,” he comments.
