Racurs Conference

The VIIIth International Scientific and Technical Conference "From imagery to map: digital photogrammetric technologies" was held on the shores of the Adriatic Sea in Porec, Croatia from 15th to 18th September 2008.

The conference was organised by Racurs (Russia) with the support of the ISPRS, Russian Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing and Federal Real Estate Cadastre Agency of Russia (Rosnedvizhimost) and sponsored by Geolidar (Russia), Leica Geosystems AG (Switzerland), Geofoto (Croatia), and GeoEye (USA).

The conference provided opportunities for discussions, knowledge and experience exchange in the sphere of remote sensing and digital photogrammetric technologies. The conference was attended by over 120 leaders and specialists of industrial enterprises and institutes from 27 countries, using remote sensing data and photogrammetric processing in their daily practice. For the first time the conference was attended by representatives from Greece, Israel, Slovenia, Austria, Argentina.

The conference schedule included plenary sessions, business meetings, workshops, and also rich entertainment program.

The organising committee has satisfyingly noted the large number of reports in the conference, submitted by experts from 15 countries. This year, the total number of reports increased by 40% compared to the previous conference, amounting to 41 in total. The reports were divided in 9 thematic sections.
