Safe Software Support for Oracle Database 11g

Safe Software (Canada) has plans to support Oracle Database 11g and Oracle Spatial 11g . Initial support will be for the enhanced GeoRaster capabilities of Oracle Spatial 11g, followed by support for Oracle's new 3D spatial type.

FME is a spatial ETL platform that allows organisations to translate, transform, integrate and distribute spatial data from/to over 190 CAD, GIS, raster and database formats. Today, Oracle customers can use FME to read and write vector data to an Oracle Spatial database. Users can also write raster data to Oracle Spatial's GeoRaster data type using the newly released FME 2007.

With the release of Oracle Database 11g, FME will be extended to support advanced Oracle Spatial 11g GeoRaster capabilities, such as improvements to mosaicking and new bitmask nodata capabilities. Safe Software will also add the ability for FME to read GeoRaster data. Together, these GeoRaster enhancements will bring greater power and flexibility to FME users who want to leverage their spatial data assets. Safe Software, a member of Oracle PartnerNetwork, also plans to enhance FME's internal model to accommodate new 3D features in Oracle Spatial 11g.

A 14-day trial of FME is available for download at:
