Septentrio License to Sell Galileo Receivers

Septentrio (Belgium) has been granted a license by the European Space Agency (ESA) to supply Galileo receivers to customers world-wide.

The Galileo receivers that are allowed to be shipped include GeNeRx, the multi-frequency Galileo/GPS receiver that was the first model ever to receive Galileo signals from space.

GeNeRx is the core receiver used in ESA’s network of 13 Galileo Experimental Sensor Stations (GESS), deployed world wide, that is used to perform in-orbit validation of GIOVE-A, Europe’s first navigation satellite, and to secure the Galileo frequencies.

Peter Grognard, CEO of Septentrio, applauds the publication of the GIOVE-A signal description, and the authorisation to Septentrio to supply Galileo receivers to other users. “After the crucial initial intensive testing and in-orbit-validation activities, the availability of receivers and signal details to a wide community of scientists and early application developers will provide an important boost to the Galileo program”, he said.
