SimActive software powers Balko Tech’s modular Lidar mapping systems

SimActive's Correlator3D software has been integrated into Balko Tech's modular Lidar mapping systems, enhancing the company's ability to deliver tailored geospatial solutions. Balko Tech, a Canadian company specializing in drone-based Lidar systems, develops modular, interchangeable components that provide users with flexibility to adapt their systems to specific mapping needs.

Balko Tech’s modular approach enables the integration of cameras alongside Lidar systems, allowing for the addition of colour information to 3D point clouds. With Correlator3D, users can colourize Lidar point clouds and generate orthomosaics seamlessly. Maude Pelletier, president and CEO of Balko Tech, emphasized the benefits of the partnership: “We really offer our customers the option to customize the right mapping solution quickly. In partnership with SimActive, Correlator3D provides powerful image processing and Lidar point cloud colourization tools for our users.”

Distributed processing

SimActive, based in Montreal, has been at the forefront of photogrammetry software for 20 years. Its flagship product, Correlator3D, supports a wide range of geospatial data applications, from aerial and satellite imagery to drone-based mapping. In early 2024, the company introduced upgraded cloud capabilities for Correlator3D, featuring distributed processing that significantly reduces processing times. The latest version also offers doubled speed for generating point clouds and digital surface models, further cementing its reputation for innovation.

Established in 2021, Balko Tech has swiftly earned recognition for its innovative approach to geospatial data capture. Specializing in modular Lidar systems, the company provides flexible, high-performing solutions for drone-based mapping. Central to its product lineup is the Connectiv modular Lidar sensor, known for its adaptability and accuracy in meeting diverse mapping requirements.
