Staiger Hands FIG Presidency Over to Dumashie

In a short ceremony, the outgoing president of FIG (International Federation of Surveyors), Rudolf Staiger, handed his presidency over to incoming president Diane Dumashie. The symbolic event took place at Intergeo, last week in Essen, Germany. Diane Dumashie was elected at the last FIG Congress in Warsaw in early September and her four-term presidency officially starts on 1 January 2023.

Many representatives of several commissions of FIG were present at the event in Essen. President-elect Dumashie pointed out in her speech that we are experiencing times of transformation and that she will serve FIG and through that society with a focus on people and planet. Sustainability will be key, and the SDGs the leading motto, said Dumashie, who promised to develop a strategic agenda at the beginning of next year. Honorary president Stig Enemark (Denmark) supported the handover with a speech in which he reflected on the last 20 years of FIG.
