Student Volunteer Opportunities at URISA's GIS-Pro Conference

Students have the opportunity to apply to be a volunteer during GIS-Pro 2013: URISA’s 51st Annual Conference for GIS Professionals. They receive a complimentary registration in return for their service. GIS-Pro 2013 will be held in Providence, RI, USA, at the Rhode Island Convention Center from 16-19 September 2013.

Student volunteers are needed to assist with registration, to monitor workshops and breakout sessions, to contribute to various social networks to keep followers afar engaged, and to assist with other various tasks and responsibilities as needed by URISA staff.

Volunteering at GIS-Pro is a great opportunity for students, said Wendy Nelson, executive director at URISA. Networking at conferences with GIS Professionals is the ideal skill to develop in order to find connections for future employment, she added.

An application form has been posted on the conference website. Students interested in applying for a volunteer position should submit the completed form by 28 August 2013. Applicants will be notified by 4 September 2013 if they have been selected as a volunteer for the conference; student volunteers will receive complimentary conference registration, but are responsible for their own travel and hotel costs.
