Successful Operational Rollout of sUAS Sirol-110 v2015

The new Sirol-110 v2015 small unmanned aerial system (sUAS) designed and produced by IDETEC Unmanned System has been successfully used during a mapping campaign in the Atacama Desert, Chile. The new system operated well in desert conditions, handling heavy winds, dust and extreme temperatures.

The Sirol-110 v2015 integrates advanced features and functions. It is RTK-ready, extremely transportable and capable of flying in windy conditions, making it an ideal professional mapping solution to be carried on airline flights as personal baggage.

Sirol-110 v2015 is equipped with a Sony 20mp visual range sensor or Tetracam ADC micro for agriculture applications, with all payload inside the fuselage and controlled by the flight control computer. Wireless datalink range is 20km and linear range of the UAV is 65km. A key feature of the new system is a new detachable tail boom that permits a compact and modular transport design and a three-panel wing configuration. The ground control station is based on a Panasonic Toughbook multi-touch tablet PC.
