Super-Wide Format Printer

Mutoh Europe (Belgium), manufacturer of large-format printers and sign-cutting plotters, has introduced its new 2.6 metre super-wide format solvent printer 'Osprey'. Developed by Mutoh Industries (Japan), this new printer is an addition to the company’s existing range of inkjet printers Albatros (54") and Toucan (64" and 87") and offers a maximum media width of 2,600mm (102.36") and a maximum printing width of 2,500mm (98.43"). Top engine speed is 93 m2/h at 360 x 180dpi. In production mode (360 x 360dpi), maximum speed amounts to 46.5m2/h. The machine’s high-quality print mode (360 x 720 dpi) allows speeds up to 23.3m2/h and it uses high-speed, solvent-based double-density inks for directly printing onto standard uncoated PVC and banner materials. Two heating elements are incorporated, one for media acclimatisation before printing and the other for post-conditioning of prints. Its 2,000-ml inkbottles are refillable on the fly; this, in combination with a media unwinding and winding system, allows for unattended printing.
