Survey and Mapping for Bristol Water

Following the success of the first aerial survey for Bristol Water, UK, on the 7km Banwell-to-Hutton water main project in 2011, Blom, UK, has been asked to provide further aerial photography survey services for a second 4km water main project near Frome, Somerset. Blom will collect 3cm resolution of the route, from which vector mapping will be created for all ground features.

Nol Vincent, senior project manager at Bristol Water, said that this method has saved both time and money when compared to traditional topographical survey services. There was no need to wait for Land Entry or Environmental Services to be undertaken before the survey took place. The company has found it a more efficient method on longer pipeline installations where timescales are critical.
