Terra Carta Contributes to a History Channel Programme

Terra Carta, a Dutch geophysical detection company that has become increasingly specialised in locating and accurately recording underground utility apparatus in recent years, will be contributing its expertise to History Channel Canada’s programme ‘War Junk’ in the coming week.

War Junk is a History Channel Canada documentary series which goes in search of previously undiscovered WWI and WWII artefacts on former battlefields, mainly in Europe. The War Junk team is led by Professor David O’Keefe and programme maker Wayne Abbott, who together have more than 15 years of experience of investigating battle sites.

In the week ahead, Terra Carta will use ground penetrating radar (GPR) and GPS to explore suspect areas in the Dutch provinces of Drenthe and Groningen in order to inform the War Junk team of the best digging sites. The team will primarily be searching in specific areas where the Canadian army was active during the liberation of the northern Netherlands or where it played some other role from 1940-1945. The relevant permits have been obtained for all the activities and the land owners have given their permission for access to the sites.
