Topcon expands geomatics portfolio with new scanning solutions

Topcon Positioning Systems has introduced a range of innovative hardware and software solutions that enhance connected workflows across the surveying and mapping sector. The new additions to its geomatics portfolio were unveiled at Intergeo, the leading international trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management, held this year in Frankfurt.

Intergeo marked the first showcase of new products since Topcon announced a dedicated business structure focused on delivering high-precision technology, software and services for geomatics professionals. According to Neil Vancans, head of the newly established Geomatics Sales Unit, the new setup reflects a shift towards helping professionals work more efficiently through improved collaboration and simplified digital workflows. He described the development as the start of a new chapter for Topcon’s geomatics business, one that builds on the company’s reputation for innovation while responding directly to the sector’s growing demand for integrated, data-driven solutions.

New scanning portfolio

At the heart of the company’s latest advancements is a new scanning portfolio, supported by a software platform intended as a long-term companion for customers. Vancans emphasized that the approach is centred on flexibility and accessibility, enabling the integration of sensors across a range of price points and accuracy levels within a single platform. This, he noted, allows users to select the right tool for each task while benefiting from a unified and intelligent ecosystem that brings artificial intelligence into everyday workflows.

Topcon’s strategy also responds to customers’ need for simplicity and interoperability. The company is prioritizing open integrations and compatibility with mixed fleets, aiming to deliver a connected workflow that reduces complexity and increases value for end users.

Foundational tools for this connected ecosystem include Collage and ClearEdge software, which support data management, feature extraction and the seamless transfer of deliverables into GIS, BIM or CAD environments. Topcon Collage – available in Site, Office and Web versions – serves as a central data hub, enabling efficient data sharing between field and office teams. The company is also launching the Collage Cloud Connector for improved interoperability with Autodesk platforms and ClearEdge solutions such as EdgeWise and Verity.

Wide range of Lidar solutions

Among the hardware presented in Frankfurt were several innovative scanning systems that extend Topcon’s reach across a variety of field applications. The CR-H1 handheld scanner leverages the Lidar capabilities of iPhone Pro devices to capture georeferenced images and produce detailed, full-colour 3D point clouds through photogrammetry. The CR-M1, an indoor and outdoor mapping system that can be used on a backpack or survey pole, is designed for environments ranging from multi-floor buildings and construction sites to tunnels, stockpiles and forests.

Meanwhile, the CR-P1 terrestrial laser scanner delivers real-time, georeferenced point cloud generation directly on-site, providing users with immediate access to actionable data. Completing the lineup, the CR-S2 handheld scanner combines Magnet Flow and Bridge software with multi-localization fusion-SLAM technology, enabling accurate mapping even in open or featureless environments such as coastlines, farmland or airports.

With these additions, Topcon aims to reinforce its position as a key innovator in the global geomatics market, advancing toward a future of connected, intelligent and data-driven workflows.
