Topcon FC-200 Field Computer

Topcon Europe Positioning B.V. (The Netherlands) has released a new field computer: the FC-200, using the Intel X-Scale 520 MHz processor. The FC-200 comes with the Windows CE operating system built in and can run a variety of Windows-based applications such Microsoft Wordpad, Microsoft Explorer, Microsoft Media Player and Internet Explorer.

By connecting the Topcon FC-200 field computer to a cell phone, direct Internet access is established. Data is accessible via one of the two card slots; Compact Flash- and SD Media-slots are built in. Besides data-transfer via data-cards, direct serial and USB or Bluetooth makes it possible to communicate with any other device. The FC-200 has been designed to withstand tough field situations and outdoor conditions. It is completely sealed and therefore dust- and waterproof. The robust housing makes the field computer

shockproof so it keeps working after a drop.

The standard features of the FC-200 include:

  • Optional snap in RS-1 2.4 GHz radio module
  • WiFi connectivity
  • Two memory options; 256MB or 512MB
  • 520 MHz Intel XScale processor
  • SD and CF card slots
  • USB and USB2 and serial ports
  • Internal Bluetooth technology
  • Removable, rechargeable Lithium Ion camcorder battery
