Trimble S6 Total Station

Trimble (CA, USA) has introduced its S6 Total Station, an advanced surveying instrument based on a new design platform. The S6 will be available in three configurations: Servo, Autolock and Robotic. All components of the system can be upgraded. The cable-free system includes MagDrive servos and angle sensors, SurePoint accuracy assurance, and MultiTrack prism tracking.
The MagDrive technology silently turns the instrument at more than 100 degrees per second to provide smooth control for precision pointing. SurePoint automatically corrects pointing and measurements in difficult conditions by guarding against sinking, vibration and incorrect handling after set-up. The new MultiTrack technology combines passive prism tracking with active Target ID. The instrument will lock and track a variety of conventional prisms to ranges up to 500 metres. It can handle multiple prisms on one site and lock onto the selected one, eliminating false target locks. The S6 also features Direct Reflex (DR) technology, which allows reflectorless measurements to targets at ranges up to 300 metres. The new total station is completely cable-free. The multi-battery holder contains three Lithium-ion batteries. Each battery provides six hours operating time in robotic mode. The new detachable CU controller runs on Windows CE.Net and features a bright, colour touch-screen display as well as 256Mb of onboard data storage and a choice of Trimble field application software. As part of the company’s integrated surveying system, the CU controller also supports GPS surveying.
