Trimble Unveils Subfoot GPS Solution for Mapping

Trimble (CA, USA) has introduced its next generation of GPS receivers for GIS data collection and mapping, the GPS Pathfinder ProXH receiver. It is an integrated GPS receiver, antenna and battery all in a one unit. The ProXH receiver uses Bluetooth technology for cable-free communications to a field computer and Trimble's new H-Star technology to provide subfoot (30 centimetre) positioning accuracy.

The ProXH receiver is suited for use in high accuracy mapping, data collection and asset management such as water/wastewater, utilities, cadastral, telecommunications, transportation as well as construction and engineering applications.

In addition to the ProXH receiver, the all-new GPS Pathfinder Pro series also includes the ProXT receiver. In the same convenient form factor as the ProXH, the ProXT receiver delivers submeter accuracy.

Trimble H-Star technology is a combination of the ProXH receiver technology, field data collection techniques and postprocessing that allows users to achieve subfoot accuracy. With the addition of an external Zephyr antenna, eight-inch (20 centimetre) accuracy can be obtained.

The ProXH and ProXT receivers come with a variety of mounting options -- belt, backpack, range pole or on a vehicle. The GPS Pathfinder Pro series is expected to begin shipping in May 2005. The receivers are available for purchase now from Trimble's worldwide dealers and business partners.
