Two Days Full of 3D Measuring

On 13 and 14 February 2013, the annual ‘Oldenburger 3D-Tage’ event took place in the northern German city of Oldenburg, attracting some 200 experts from the whole of Germany and neighbouring countries. Participants could enjoy a total of 56 presentations as well as an exhibition where relevant companies showcased the latest developments, research results and applications of the optical 3D measuring technique.

This year marked the 12th edition of the Oldenburger 3D-Tage, an event which was initiated by Prof Dr Thomas Luhmann, head of the Institute of Applied Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics (IAPG). The IAPG is part of the Jade Hochschule (University of Applied Services) in Oldenburg. Among the exhibitors were Hexagon Metrology, Clauss, Limess (the German dealer of the Surphaser 3D laser scanner), Leica Geosystems, FARO and Zoller+Fröhlich.

The event not only has a highly interesting programme, but it also functions as an excellent location for networking and knowledge-sharing between students, scientists and experts from the field. At the small exhibition 22 companies, predominantly manufacturers and developers of software and measuring systems, displayed their newest products. The exhibition proved to be a valuable addition to the presentations, which themselves usually generated lively discussions afterwards. In conclusion, the Oldenburger 3D-Tage event is definitely worth a visit for anyone involved in 3D measuring.
