Upgrades to SiRFstarIII based iTrax300 OEM GPS Receiver

Fastrax Ltd. (Finland) has upgraded iTrax300 module with the new SiRF GSC3e/LP chip, which reduces typical power consumption by approximately 35% down to 110mW. The new chip is pin compatible with the previous SiRF GSC3 chip, necessitating no changes to the operation and interfaces of the iTrax300 GPS module.

Simultaneously with the chip upgrade, the firmware of the iTrax300 receiver will be upgraded for several enhancements in navigation and robustness. With the new firmware version 3.2.4, navigation sensitivity will be improved to -158dBm and acquisition sensitivity to -143dBm.

The iTrax300 OEM GPS receiver module enables high-performance navigation in the most stringent applications and a solid fix even in demanding GPS environments. iTrax300 receivers are ideally suited for both industrial navigation systems and battery operated consumer products such as handheld computers, vehicle navigation devices, sports accessories and mobile phones.

The upgraded iTrax300 receiver modules will be available during the first quarter of 2007 from Fastrax distributors worldwide. Product naming of the iTrax300 family will remain unchanged.
