Velodyne Live Lidar Demos

Velodyne Lidar (USA) is displaying its latest in sensor technology, the HDL-32E, on Stand 39 at the 2011 SPAR international conference being held this week at the Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center in Houston (TX, USA). Visitors to the show can see the HDL-32E in action at the Mobile Scanning and Mapping Demo being held in the circular driveway of the convention centre.

The HDL-32E is a small, lightweight and rugged sensor designed to meet the demand for 3D mapping applications and autonomous navigation. It features 32 lasers across a 40° vertical Field of View (FOV) and generates 800,000 distance points per second. The HDL-32E measures just 5.68 inches high by 3.4 inches wide and weighs 2.4 pounds.

Raymond Mandli, president of Mandli Communications, is scheduled to speak at a session on mobile surveying on Tuesday, March 22, from 1:30PM to 3:00PM. Discussing Velodyne's other sensor, the original HDL-64E, the presentation is to describe how the Texas Department of Transportation uses Lidar data and the advancement of Lidar collection technology. The HDL-64E produces 1.3 million data points per second.

The HDL-32E will also be on display at the Velodyne booth, #842, at Automate 2011 which is also being held 21st to 24th March at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL, USA.
