Z-Max.Net GPS Tests TERIA

Magellan Z-Max.Net has has been qualified for the new French GPS Reference Network Teria.

Originally planned by the Ordre des Géomètres-Experts (French Surveyors Union) to facilitate the work of its members, the TERIA network is an RTK network, based on the use of Magellan reference stations, that will allow users to position themselves in real time with great accuracy, throughout Metropolitan France using the positioning reference of the established network. EXAGONE, the network administrator, will make available an accurate and instant positioning tool for all georeferencing applications.

The tests performed in August this year were the first in the network’s current configuration on a geodetic point located in the Burgundian village of Joigny, about 150km South East of Paris.

The tests were performed with the Z-Max.Net system used in FKP mode, a mode that allows the acquisition of RTK data from the TERIA network through a GPRS connection.

Two test campaigns performed over a full 24-hour period enabled the TERIA project founders to confirm the repeatability of their measurements using first a tripod-mounted Z-Max.Net system and then a Z-Max.Net system in pole configuration.

With mean deviations of 0.9 to 1.3cm (X), 0.9 to 2.3cm (Y) and 1.8 to 2.2cm (Z), the results of the tests are above expectations, unquestionably conforming to the network precision standards that stipulate planimetric and altimetric errors never exceeding 5cm (2 inches).
