GIM International – issue 1 2026
This first issue of GIM International in 2026 is our annual Business Guide edition, featuring interviews with some of the leading experts in the geospatial industry. Our extended conversation with Esri’s Jack Dangermond is a particular highlight.
Also in this issue: a rare insider’s look at how geodata collection, processing and application have evolved in parallel with the development of the Netherlands’ youngest province, which was designed from the ground up.
Further, we offer a baseline snapshot of where European aerial survey operators stand in this period of industry-wide transformation, and examine the geospatial profession’s ‘central paradox’: the importance of geospatial practitioners mastering the business of geography.
Last but not least, this issue features the results of GIM International’s annual geospatial industry survey. Members of the global geospatial community have shared their thoughts on investment priorities, the evolving role of the professional and their confidence in the future. The results paint a vivid picture of a profession that has never been more relevant, yet one wrestling with real tensions between opportunity and uncertainty.
We hope you find this edition insightful and inspiring!
