GIM - Issue 4 - 2025
By combining data from multiple sources, sensor fusion is reducing uncertainty, improving accuracy, and reshaping urban planning, infrastructure management and public safety in smart cities. This important topic takes centre stage in this edition of GIM International. Several articles show how integrated sensors deliver comprehensive geospatial intelligence: from the use of multiscale Lidar technologies to understand tropical rainforest dynamics, to a UAV-enabled photogrammetry and laser project scanning more than 10km of an airport’s exterior. Other aspects of the mapping and surveying profession covered in this edition include cadastral mapping, surveying for demanding infrastructure projects, and inspiring reports about other spatial planning challenges to which geoinformation provides the solution.
